AQUINAS STUDENTS VISIT ORDOS NO.1 HIGH SCHOOL
On Sept. 14, the teachers and students from Aquinas College, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia had a visit to Ordos No.1 High School and had an exchange as sister schools.
On Wednesday morning, Sept.14, the guests first watched the Marching of our students. Later, they visited the Science Museum and the Greenhouse. Both the teachers and students had a deep impression on what they had seen in our school. After touring around the school campus, they twice went into the classes of Grade One in the morning and afternoon. The students from both countries felt very excited and communicated smoothly. In the school canteen, Aquinas students and teachers had lunch with our students.
After communication, Aquinas students had games of volleyball and basketball with our school Sports Class and International Class. The competition was very fierce and both sides had wins and losses. Especially in the mixed teams’ game, both sides cooperated and understood each other very well.
In the evening, 12 students’ families from Kangbashi invited 12 groups of the 25 students to their homes and had a dinner. Aquinas students experienced the life of Chinese families and enjoyed the atmosphere of the traditional Chinese holiday---the Mid-Autumn Day. At dinner, they became close friends and talked on intimate terms.
From the sister schools’ exchange, the students from both countries have learned a lot from each other and have had a deeper learning about the other country. For our students, they not only practiced English, but showed Ordos people’s hospitality as well. The activity has tested their listening and speaking, and they have gained confidence from it, which will greatly motivate their enthusiasm in learning English.
